Cary Hart was born on a naval base in the Philippines and, like most military families, spent the early years of her life moving during her father’s tenure in the U.S. Navy. Cary graduated from high school in Dallas, Texas in 1987 and went to the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1991 and returned to Dallas where she worked for three years for Orthopedic Surgeons in their business office.


Cary moved to Houston in 1994 to attend South Texas College of Law. She graduated in 1997 in the top twenty (20) percent of her class and was awarded the David T. Donnelly Award given to the graduating student In Recognition of Exemplary Character, Perseverance, and Legal Ability.


Upon graduating she was hired as an Assistant District Attorney under Johnny Holmes. For almost 11 years as an Assistant District Attorney, she helped protect our community by prosecution all types of cases from Class C misdemeanors to First Degree felonies, from traffic tickets to murders. While at the District Attorney’s Office, in addition to being assigned to both misdemeanor and felony courts, she served in the Child Abuse Division, Juvenile Court Division, Major Fraud Division, and Asset Forfeiture Division, made chief of a misdemeanor court and of the Justice Court Section. Since leaving the District Attorney’s Office, she has been in private practice and works as a prosecutor in the City of Humble. In Humble she is mainly responsible for the juvenile docket where she sees how the deterioration of the family unit causes crime to rise. As a prosecutor she tried over fifty jury trials putting defendants away for hundreds of years and helping seize millions of dollars of contraband. She also received an award from the Recording Industry Association of America in appreciation of her efforts to combat sound recording piracy and protect the creative rights of record companies, artists, musicians and composers. She spoke to each branch of the Harris County Medical Society regarding how to protect against employee theft and to members of the Houston Bar Association regarding identity theft.


Cary and her family are active members of their church, First United Methodist Church, where they attend the downtown campus. Cary is a member of the PPR committee, the Wedding Guild, she and her husband teach the four-year-old Sunday School Class, Cary teaches Vacation Bible School a week each summer and she and her husband are active members of the Cornerstone Sunday School Class.


Cary is married to Brad Hart, a Chief Prosecutor in the Harris County District Attorney’s Office assigned to the Special Crimes Division, where he handles large drug cases and capital murder cases. Cary and Brad have been married for nine (9) years and have two (2) beautiful children, Hunter age six (6) and Savannah age four (4).
